What's Going On With the Housing Market? Let's Talk!
Are you curious about what's going on with the housing market in Austin, TX? Here's the scoop:
The median list price for houses this week is $795,000. That means half of the houses for sale are more expensive and half are less expensive than that.
The "market action index" is around 38. That's about the same as it was last month. This index measures how quickly houses are selling and how many new ones are being listed.
The market action index number is simply the rate of sells vs inventory which tells us how quickly houses are selling and how many new ones are being listed. AKA supply and demand.
If the number is higher than 30, that means houses are selling quickly and there aren't many new ones being listed. If it's lower than 30, that means houses are selling more slowly and there are lots of new ones being listed.
Right now, there are 2,776 homes for sale in Austin. That's more than there were before.
If you're not sure what all of this means, don't worry! It just tells us that there are lots of houses for sale in Austin right now, and they're selling at about the same rate as they were last month.
Remember, the housing market changes often, so if you're interested in buying a home get in touch with a real estate agent (Hi Bianca Vazquez real estate agent here!) to get into the process of buying.
